SNITZEL KID and JIMSON THE BEST made heavy contact at the start. NOBLE DELUXE shifted out at the start and bumped ENTHUSING. LEO’S PRIDE was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, NORDIC STAR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1300 Metres, NOBLE DELUXE raced tight inside ABSOLUTE FANTASY which itself was taken in slightly by ENTHUSING. After the 1200 Metres, ENTHUSING was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 800 Metres, JIMSON THE BEST proved very difficult to settle and shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY SEVEN. B Prebble (ELEGANCE KLAMMER) was warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above shoulder height. After the race, T Clark said that SNITZEL KID travelled satisfactorily behind the lead, however, came under pressure near the 400 Metres and, despite being ridden along, finished off the race only one-paced. He did say that whilst he had not previously ridden SNITZEL KID in a race, in his opinion, the horse raced “flat” tonight. A veterinary inspection of SNITZEL KID after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of ENTHUSING after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. SNITZEL KID, ELEGANCE KLAMMER and WITHINMYHEART were sent for sampling. <3/5/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> ENTHUSING, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. ENTHUSING was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer R Gibson this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ENTHUSING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
