PILLOWIN was withdrawn on 30.4.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FIERY RAIDER. Before being allowed to race again, PILLOWIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FIERY RAIDER and BEAUTY KING were slow to begin. SUPREME JEWELLERY began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HANNIBAL BARCA. After the 700 Metres, SUPREME JEWELLERY shifted out away from the heels of HANNIBAL BARCA, resulting in BEAUTY KING being steadied when crowded for room inside INVINCIBLE HEART. After this, SUPREME JEWELLERY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HANNIBAL BARCA. Approaching the 600 Metres, BEAUTY KING got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of INVINCIBLE HEART. SECRET OF WINNING, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, BEAUTY KING got its head on the side and hung out. At the entrance to the Straight, INVINCIBLE HEART momentarily raced tight between SPICY SHRIMP and VICTORY GENERAL which shifted out to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, SPICY SHRIMP travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SECRET OF WINNING, D Whyte stated that he had been instructed to ride the horse similarly to the manner in which he rode it two starts ago over the course and distance and from an identical barrier. He said on that occasion the horse was ridden in about a midfield position and finished off the race strongly to finish second. He said however that if SECRET OF WINNING began best, he was given the option of obtaining a forward position if circumstances allowed. He said SECRET OF WINNING began only fairly tonight and got its head up shortly after the start. He said for this reason he elected to shift SECRET OF WINNING across behind runners and was able to obtain a position just worse than midfield. He added that after obtaining this position, SECRET OF WINNING travelled in a similar manner to which it did when he last rode the horse, however, unlike on that occasion, SECRET OF WINNING, despite being ridden along, did not finish off the race and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME JEWELLERY and SECRET OF WINNING after the race did not show any significant findings. EVER BEAUTY and VICTORY GENERAL were sent for sampling. <3/5/2012 Additional Veterinary Report>SUPREME JEWELLERY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SUPREME JEWELLERY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Size this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME JEWELLERY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
