CASA JUNIOR began very awkwardly and consequently lost ground. From a wide barrier, RAINBOW SEEKER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. For some distance after the 1400 Metres, SUNNY SKY got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANESOUTH. HUMONGUS had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight. Near the 350 Metres, FULL VALUE was momentarily crowded for room between CASA JUNIOR which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANESOUTH and SILENT DEMAND which shifted out. Then near the 250 Metres, FULL VALUE was shifted to the outside of CASA JUNIOR when disappointed for running between that horse which shifted in and SILENT DEMAND which shifted out. For a short distance after this, FULL VALUE had difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, WATCH FIRST got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. A veterinary inspection of WATCH FIRST and FULL STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. WATCH FIRST, DANESOUTH and NOBLE FLIER were sent for sampling.
