MUST GO (J133): Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of B Avdulla, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race. When questioned, B Avdulla stated that his mount jumped awkwardly which resulted in his left foot shifting in his stirrup iron. He said as a result he was obliged to re-position his foot in the stirrup iron and MUST GO settled further back than what had been intended. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STREET CONQUEROR (H341): No report. CIRCUIT ELEVEN (G468): Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. The performance of CIRCUIT ELEVEN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. IMPERIAL MAGEE (E460): No report. HINOKAMI KAGURA (H384): After the race, H Bentley reported that his mount failed to travel throughout the event and he was obliged to make use of HINOKAMI KAGURA to hold its position. Trainer J Richards reported that he had been pleased with the horse’s work leading into the race and had expected it to run well. He said the only explanation he could offer was that HINOKAMI KAGURA is still relatively inexperienced and may not have appreciated the kickback it received on today’s surface. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of HINOKAMI KAGURA was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, HINOKAMI KAGURA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PACKING HURRICANE (H137): Passing the 350 Metres was directed to the outside of ORIENTAL SMOKE to obtain clear running. ILLUMINOUS (J170): On arrival at the Start, it was noted that ILLUMINOUS had lost its left front plate. This plate was refitted. ILLUMINOUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped only fairly. In the middle stages raced keenly. After the 600 Metres was badly crowded for room between STAR MAC and BILLIONAIRE SECRET (Y L Chung) which shifted to the outside of AFFORDABLE. Y L Chung was severely reprimanded. STAR MAC (J053): When questioned as to why his mount raced in a three wide position after starting from barrier 1, H Bowman stated that he was requested by connections to attempt to have his mount race away from the rail as STAR MAC has performed better when ridden in this manner. He stated that after travelling a short distance he shifted away from the rail with a view to obtaining a position behind the favourite in the event SUNSTRIDER. He said leaving the 1500 Metres his mount shifted out slightly which allowed ILLUMINOUS to improve to his inside and as a result he was then obliged to race three wide. He added that although he was obliged to travel wide in the event, he was satisfied with his position as his mount obtained cover behind KIMBERLEY, however, in the Home Straight STAR MAC finished the race off in a one-paced manner. Trainer D A Hayes confirmed the instructions issued. HOLY LAKE (H260): Sent for sampling post-race. EIGHTEEN CARAT (J104): Jumped only fairly. SUNSTRIDER (J168): When questioned regarding the performance, Z Purton stated that his mount was not suited by being positioned tight to the inside of KIMBERLEY throughout the event and also was disadvantaged in the Home Straight when it improved into a narrow run between HOLY LAKE and KIMBERLEY and was reluctant to proceed forward when it continued to race tight inside KIMBERLEY. Trainer D J Hall confirmed the instructions were to take up a midfield position, but agreed with Jockey Purton that his mount was disadvantaged by racing tight to the inside of KIMBERLEY in the Home Straight. Notwithstanding this, the Stewards determined the performance of SUNSTRIDER to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, SUNSTRIDER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Sent for sampling post-race. KA YING GENERATION (J075): When questioned regarding his riding, A Atzeni stated that his intention was to ride his mount in a forward position in a similar way in which it was ridden when it performed well in the Hong Kong Derby on 24 March 2024. He said in the early stages when MOMENTS IN TIME held the lead, he was aware that the pace of the event was being run inside of standard time, however, KA YING GENERATION was travelling comfortably in a position to the outside of MOMENTS IN TIME. He added that from the 800 Metres KA YING GENERATION came under pressure and failed to finish the race off from that point. When asked if there was an opportunity to take a trailing position behind MOMENTS IN TIME, A Atzeni stated that due to his mount carrying a light weight and it had raced well when being allowed to run freely at its last start, he felt that his best option was to remain racing outside of MOMENTS IN TIME to take advantage of the light weight. He said however with the benefit of hindsight, he may have been better suited by obtaining cover in the middle stages behind MOMENTS IN TIME. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The Stewards found the performance of KA YING GENERATION to be disappointing as compared to its previous race start.
