On jumping, HECO RIDER was crowded for room between INVICTUS and ELEGANCE KLAMMER, both of which shifted ground. As a consequence of contact on its hindquarters, ELEGANCE KLAMMER then lay in despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in HECO RIDER being further crowded, striking the heels of INVICTUS and blundering. From wide barriers, STRATHTAY, GREAT RENOWN and RIDE WITH THE WIND were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, ELEGANCE KLAMMER lost its both hind plates. Passing the 700 Metres, UWILLBEGLORIOUS was shifted out to improve and raced three wide and without cover thereafter. Passing the 500 Metres, RIDE WITH THE WIND made contact with the hindquarters of STRATHTAY which became unbalanced. Rounding the Home Turn, FLYING ELITE raced tight between UWILLBEGLORIOUS and INVICTUS. In this incident, FLYING ELITE made contact with the hindquarters of UWILLBEGLORIOUS, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. After being shifted in away from the heels of MEGA CHAMPION after passing the 300 Metres, RIDE WITH THE WIND then had some difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100 Metres. Close to the finishing line, RIDE WITH THE WIND was then awkwardly placed near the heels of FLYING ELITE and as a consequence could not be ridden out fully to the line. A veterinary inspection of INVICTUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. YEE CHEONG STAR and FLYING ELITE were sent for sampling.
