TURBO JEWELLERY shifted in at the start and made contact with GREAT AND BEYOND. From wide barriers, WRATH OF FIRE and AMAZINGLY were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. BANKSTERS BONUS travelled wide and without cover from the 700 Metres. J Moreira (TURBO JEWELLERY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of AGIAAL, resulting in AGIAAL being crowded onto WRATH OF FIRE which as a result was checked. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 9 December 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Thursday, 28 November 2013 on which day Jockey Moreira was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Sha Tin racemeeting on Wednesday, 30 October 2013. Approaching the 600 Metres, AGIAAL became awkward on the heels of BUBBLE CHIC, became unbalanced and lost ground. Approaching the 100 Metres, AMAZINGLY resented being struck with the whip and veered out abruptly, resulting in its rider, K Teetan, becoming unbalanced. A veterinary inspection of AMAZINGLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. M Chadwick was questioned regarding his mount, BEAUTY TOUCH losing ground abruptly near the 650 Metres. M Chadwick stated that up until this point BEAUTY TOUCH was travelling comfortably, however, near the 650 Metres the horse lost its action behind, then became extremely unbalanced and lost ground abruptly and because of this he felt the horse may have broken down. He said that after BEAUTY TOUCH was eased down, its action improved, however, he was reluctant to resume riding the horse as he feared that there was still something amiss with it. After viewing the video of the incident, M Chadwick concluded that the only explanation he could offer was that BEAUTY TOUCH may have struck itself to cause it to react the way it did. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY TOUCH, which eventually tailed out, immediately following the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had sustained a superficial abrasion over the back of the left hind fetlock. The performance of BEAUTY TOUCH was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY TOUCH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the performance of TURBO JEWELLERY, J Moreira stated that after being obliged to race three wide and without cover for the majority of the event, TURBO JEWELLERY then appeared to resent racing tight inside of BANKSTERS BONUS which improved quickly to its outside passing the 500 Metres. He added TURBO JEWELLERY then did not respond to his riding and was only one-paced in the Straight. He said he was unable to offer any other explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of TURBO JEWELLERY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY FOREVER and TODOS CON SUERTE were sent for sampling.
