TURF MAGIC and JAZZY FEELING were slow to begin. Soon after the start, GETAWAY GUY, which began very awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with ATACX which in turn shifted in and made contact with PROLIFIC CHAMPION. GETAWAY GUY then failed to muster speed and was steadied away from the heels of TANGO FIRE at the 1150 Metres. A short distance after the start, TANGO FIRE was steadied away from the heels of BUNDLE OF JOY which shifted in. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, PROLIFIC CHAMPION failed to muster speed. The nose band fitted to ATACX broke during the running of the race, resulting in that piece of gear coming loose in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of JAZZY FEELING immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JAZZY FEELING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BUNDLE OF JOY, ATACX and STEP FASTER were sent for sampling.
