AMBITIOUS OWNER lost ground when crowded for room at the start between B CHOICE and SUPREME GENKI which, after shifting in of its own accord, was then taken in slightly by ISTIDE. From the outside barrier, DELISH was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 1200 Metres, B CHOICE got its head up and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CITY KING. Then near the 1000 Metres, B CHOICE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOYFUL WINNER II. Approaching the 800 Metres, SPEEDY lost ground after being checked away from the heels of CITY KING. HAPPY SEVEN, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of SPEEDY and shifted out, resulting in SUPREME GENKI racing tight inside ISTIDE. At the 400 Metres, TRAVEL KING was steadied when racing tight between B CHOICE (B Prebble) which got its head on the side and shifted in and JOYFUL WINNER II which shifted out and away from the heels of ALWAYS WELL. B Prebble was advised to ensure that he makes every effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 350 Metres, HAPPY SEVEN was crowded for room between SUPREME GENKI and TRAVEL KING which, when giving ground, was taken out slightly by JOYFUL WINNER II. In this incident, HAPPY SEVEN bumped the hindquarters of SUPREME GENKI which became unbalanced. SADDLERS LODGE had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Both AMBITIOUS OWNER and DELISH had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200 Metres. CITY KING was unable to obtain clear running until after passing the 200 Metres. Throughout the race, TRAVEL KING and ISTIDE raced wide and without cover. B CHOICE, CITY KING and LUCKY WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
