WIN ESPRIT was withdrawn on 28.10.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WRATH OF FIRE (M Du Plessis). Before being allowed to race again, WIN ESPRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SLEEP WELL, which was leaning on the outside of its stall as the start was effected, was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, BEAUTY SUCCESS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 1400 Metres, SUPER HURRICANE raced in restricted room between SUMMER DASH and TAKEANOTHERCHANCE which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of I SMELL MONEY. After the 1300 Metres, SLEEP WELL raced tight between SUPER HURRICANE which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TAKEANOTHERCHANCE which was being steadied away from the heels of I SMELL MONEY and BEST CITY (Apprentice C Y Ho) which shifted in. A short distance later, SLEEP WELL was checked when BEST CITY shifted in marginally. Apprentice Ho was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in future. Near the 900 Metres, TAKEANOTHERCHANCE was again awkwardly placed close to the heels of I SMELL MONEY. WRATH OF FIRE was not able to obtain clear running between WIN A DOZEN and JOLLY FINE on a number of occasions in the Straight. WRATH OF FIRE was then shifted to the outside of JOLLY FINE into clear running near the 100 Metres. Because of this, WRATH OF FIRE was not able to be properly tested in the Straight. I SMELL MONEY had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 250 Metres. Near the 150 Metres, NOVEL WINNING was crowded for room inside SUPER HURRICANE which shifted in. Over the concluding stages, SUPER HURRICANE raced in restricted room between TOM’S EIGHTH and BEAUTY SUCCESS. Throughout the race, TOM’S EIGHTH travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TAKEANOTHERCHANCE had sustained a mild abrasion to the right hind fetlock. JOLLY FINE, BEST CITY and TAKEANOTHERCHANCE were sent for sampling.
