Whilst parading behind the barriers, M’S MAGIC had its tongue tie replaced. CELESTIAL WORLD shifted out at the start and bumped MAGIC FIGHTER. BRIGHT SPIRITS was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, M’S MAGIC blundered after being crowded for room between DELISH and SWEETIE MUSIC, both of which shifted ground. After the 1200 Metres, SUPER GENERAL got its head up when being steadied to allow MAGIC FIGHTER to cross. After this, SUPER GENERAL continued to get its head up and raced ungenerously. Near the 900 Metres, WINNER SMART was steadied away from the heels of CELESTIAL WORLD which shifted out. After this, WINNER SMART proved difficult to settle for some distance. At the 800 Metres, MASTER KEY was left racing wide and without cover. After the 400 Metres, SNITZEL KID raced tight inside MASTER KEY. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PANNA, J Lloyd stated that making the first turn approaching the 800 Metres PANNA got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle. He said after this he was able to shift PANNA away from the fence and the horse travelled more kindly. He said however that when placed under pressure at the entrance to the Straight, PANNA was most disappointing in its failure to close off the race. He did say that after the race PANNA had made an audible abnormal breathing noise. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that PRESTO had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of PANNA after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER GOODIES, DELISH and MASTER KEY were sent for sampling.
