Steward Report Predict Pace Map
At the start, PANTHER RUN and SHAREMA FEELING were steadied when crowded for room between PASSIONATE which got its head on the side and shifted in and BEAUTIFUL SCENERY which shifted out after being bumped by TOAST FOR TROPHY. From wide barriers, ROCK’N TYPHOON and HAPPY FOREVER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Also shortly after the start, the left side winker worn by NOBLE VISION became detached. After the 1000 Metres, NOBLE VISION, which was racing very wide, was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail. Making the first turn approaching the 800 Metres, SUNSHINE KID, which was proving difficult to settle, was hampered when crowded for room between HUGE PROFIT and PASSIONATE which shifted out when being steadied to allow AEROSA to cross. Passing the 700 Metres, HERO’S WIN was checked away from the heels of SHAREMA FEELING when proving very difficult to settle. After this, HERO’S WIN continued to over-race and passing the 600 Metres was checked away from the heels of THINK BIG and lost ground. Rounding the Home turn, HUGE PROFIT, which had been racing wide and without cover, was eased out of the race. A veterinary inspection of HUGE PROFIT after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils. Passing the 200 Metres, BEAUTIFUL SCENERY was steadied away from the heels of SUNSHINE KID which was giving ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TOAST FOR TROPHY, Z Purton said that the horse, which had a lameness issue in February, did not feel completely comfortable in its action during the race. A veterinary inspection of TOAST FOR TROPHY after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its left hind leg and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TOAST FOR TROPHY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUNSHINE KID, O Doleuze stated that at the horse’s most recent start it had raced greenly and for this reason he recommended to the connections that blinkers be added to SUNSHINE KID’s gear. He said that they had applied blinkers to SUNSHINE KID in its track work and it had worked well with this piece of gear added. He said however that today SUNSHINE KID wanted to over-race badly throughout the event and it had eventuated that the addition of blinkers had resulted in SUNSHINE KID travelling too strongly. He added after the 600 Metres he shifted SUNSHINE KID to the outside of runners to ascertain whether the horse would let down after having over-raced. He said that the horse responded fairly to his riding, however, when struck with the whip in the left hand approaching the 200 Metres ran in abruptly and after this did not finish off the race. He added that having in mind the manner in which SUNSHINE KID raced today, he recommended that they consider removing blinkers from the horse’s gear. A veterinary inspection of SUNSHINE KID after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SUNSHINE KID was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUNSHINE KID will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTIFUL SCENERY after the race did not show any significant findings. TOAST FOR TROPHY, AEROSA and SHAREMA FEELING were sent for sampling. <27/6/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that HAPPY FOREVER was lame in the left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY FOREVER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
