When being saddled, HAPPILY TIME lost its right hind plate. HAPPILY TIME was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being loaded, SPLENDID HORSE became fractious and reared. SPLENDID HORSE was removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being reloaded, SPLENDID HORSE again became fractious and reared. Before being allowed to race again, SPLENDID HORSE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. After being loaded, EAGLE KING also became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, EAGLE KING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. GOOD YIELD was checked and lost ground when crowded for room at the start between FAMILY INTERESTS and SPLENDID HORSE, both of which shifted ground. In this incident, SPLENDID HORSE and FAMILY INTERESTS became badly unbalanced. FANTASTIC KAKA began awkwardly. HAPPILY TIME shifted out at the start and bumped SMART UNION. Near the 750 Metres, FAMILY INTERESTS became unbalanced when racing tight outside SPLENDID HORSE and close to the heels of CARE FREE ELEGANCE. GOOD YIELD raced greenly in the early and middle stages. After the 500 Metres, GOOD YIELD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of REAL FIT and then after the 400 Metres was again awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPILY TIME. At the 50 Metres, EAGLE KING shifted in a considerable amount of ground abruptly when being checked away from the heels of AH BO and EXCEL ONESELF. As a consequence of EAGLE KING’s abrupt shift, HAPPILY TIME was checked and GOOD YIELD was hampered. After the race, D Whyte stated that AH BO raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions during the event. He said he was of the opinion that AH BO may be better suited over a distance of further than today’s race. A veterinary inspection of AH BO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AH BO, SPEEDY SANDY and REAL FIT were sent for sampling.
