As the start was effected, OXFORD CHARLEY lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently began only fairly. Then after the 1100 Metres, OXFORD CHARLEY was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. READY TO CELEBRATE blundered at the start and a short distance later was bumped by KISSMET which shifted out. From a wide barrier, LIFE OF BEAUTY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start and then despite being vigorously ridden along became detached from the field in the early stages. Approaching the 1400 Metres, THANKSGIVING was shifted out abruptly to relieve the tightening to YOUNG WARRIOR and REALLY THE BEST to its inside. When being shifted out, THANKSGIVING bumped GOOD THINKER which became unbalanced and was taken wider. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, HONG KONG FAT did not show early speed. Passing the 800 Metres, READY TO CELEBRATE proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of REALLY THE BEST. Passing the 400 Metres, KISSMET was checked after making contact with SOUTHERN SPRINGS when disappointed for running between that horse and YOUNG WARRIOR. After this, KISSMET was not able to obtain clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. Then near the 150 Metres, KISSMET raced in restricted room inside THANKSGIVING when improving into narrow running inside that horse. JACK’S GEM had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 300 Metres. A veterinary inspection of OXFORD CHARLEY and YOUNG WARRIOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SOUTHERN SPRINGS and JACK’S GEM were sent for sampling.
