EIGHT TRIGRAMS was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, EIGHT TRIGRAMS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPREME LUCKY, which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet as the start was effected, resulting in SUPREME LUCKY being slow to begin. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that SUPREME LUCKY had not been denied a fair start, Trainer C S Shum and Jockey M F Poon were advised that under the provisions of Rule 12(19) which provides that no horse which is declared first, second, third or fourth place in a race shall be declared a non-runner, it was not open to them to make an application for the horse to be declared a non-runner and on that basis weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME LUCKY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. TAJ DRAGON shifted out at the start and bumped SETANTA. WINGS OF WAR was brushed by WONDER KIT which shifted in at the start. DECISIVE TWELVE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. DECISIVE TWELVE was held up rounding the Home Turn when positioned behind YOUTHFUL DEAL which raced tight to the outside of PULSAR STRIDER. CALIFORNIA RAD was briefly held up near the 400 Metres. PULSAR STRIDER and DIAMOND FLARE raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Near the 100 Metres, TAJ DRAGON was steadied when briefly crowded by SETANTA which shifted in and away from CALIFORNIA RAD. After the race, K Teetan (WINGS OF WAR) was of the view that the horse would benefit from today’s first run in Hong Kong. A veterinary inspection of WINGS OF WAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME LUCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPREME LUCKY, GOKO WIN and MAGNIAC were sent for sampling.
