CAPITAL LEGEND was bumped at the start by BEAUTY INSPIRE which shifted in. SECRET VISION made contact with the right side of its barrier on jumping. SATIRICAL GLORY shifted in at the start and bumped SINBA. Shortly after, ATULLIBIGEAL shifted in and bumped SATIRICAL GLORY. On jumping, AMAZING VICTORY made heavy contact with the left side of its barrier and became unbalanced. AMAZING VICTORY was then shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier and raced keenly in the early stages. Then for some distance passing the 1000 Metres, AMAZING VICTORY was steadied away from ATULLIBIGEAL. From the outside barrier, CAPTAIN WIN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. CAPTAIN WIN then raced keenly in the early and middle stages which resulted in it racing wide and without cover after the 900 Metres. Shortly after the start, CELTIC TIMES shifted out and made contact with C P BRAVE which was then steadied. Z Purton (SINBA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CELTIC TIMES, resulting in CELTIC TIMES being unnecessarily crowded for room and awkwardly placed on the heels of CIRCUIT MIGHTY. Z Purton was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 5 March 2023 and to expire on Thursday, 9 March 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Purton’s good race riding record. L Hewitson (SATIRICAL GLORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SINBA, resulting in SINBA being taken in across the running of CELTIC TIMES, resulting in CELTIC TIMES being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. L Hewitson was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 11 March 2023 and to expire on Thursday, 16 March 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Hewitson’s good race riding record. In this incident, C P BRAVE was hampered and shifted out and as a consequence CAPITAL LEGEND was taken wider. C P BRAVE then commenced to race keenly and near the 900 Metres was steadied away from the heels of CELTIC TIMES. Passing the 500 Metres, SECRET VISION was disappointed for running between ATULLIBIGEAL and C P BRAVE and as a result was held up until shortly after straightening. On straightening, AMAZING VICTORY was held up behind ATULLIBIGEAL and was shifted to that runner’s inside to obtain clear running. AMAZING VICTORY was again held up on the heels of THE BEST PEACH approaching the 300 Metres when that runner commenced to give ground. AMAZING VICTORY was then shifted to the outside of THE BEST PEACH where it secured clear running near the 250 Metres. Passing the 400 Metres, ATULLIBIGEAL was shifted to the outside of CAPITAL LEGEND to secure clear running, resulting in C P BRAVE being taken wider. Near the 150 Metres, CAPITAL LEGEND was placed in restricted room between SINBA and ATULLIBIGEAL, both of which shifted ground slightly. THE BEST PEACH raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. When questioned regarding BEAUTY INSPIRE leading today, L Currie reported that he was instructed to take up a forward position but not lead on BEAUTY INSPIRE. He said his mount jumped well, raced keenly in the early stages and as a consequence assumed the lead which was not his intention to do so. He added that in the Straight BEAUTY INSPIRE failed to run on due to the manner in which it raced in the early stages. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY INSPIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BULLETPROOF immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SINBA, ATULLIBIGEAL and AMAZING VICTORY were sent for sampling.
