WILD WEST WING, which became fractious when disembarking the horse transporter after arriving at Happy Valley Racecourse, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that the horse was suitable to race. On jumping, LUCKY SWEYNESSE was bumped by MERIDIAN GENIUS which was bumped and taken out by HERE COMES TED which in turn was taken out by ASTROLOGER. WINE AND WINE began very awkwardly. From a wide barrier, GLUCK RACER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 900 Metres, LUCKY SWEYNESSE got its head on the side and lay in away from WILD WEST WING, resulting in LUCKY SWEYNESSE racing tight outside the heels of YO BEAUTY. LUCKY SWEYNESSE then commenced to travel keenly and near the 800 Metres was checked when crowded for room between WILD WEST WING which shifted in marginally and YO BEAUTY which shifted out away from the heels of WINE AND WINE (C Wong) which was steadied after obtaining the lead. C Wong was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. ASTROLOGER, which was following YO BEAUTY, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence. Passing the 800 Metres, GOODLUCK GOODLUCK was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 300 Metres, YO BEAUTY was directed to the inside of WINE AND WINE to obtain clear running. ASTROLOGER and YO BEAUTY then race tight inside WINE AND WINE approaching the 250 Metres when that horse shifted in. ASTROLOGER and YO BEAUTY again raced tight approaching the 200 Metres. Also passing the 300 Metres, EXUBERANT was shifted out away from the heels of GOODLUCK GOODLUCK. EXUBERANT then lay in under pressure and passing the 100 Metres was bumped by HERE COMES TED which shifted out. After this, EXUBERANT continued to lay in. Passing the 150 Metres, WILD WEST WING was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of WINE AND WINE. After the race, K Teetan reported that, in his opinion, EXUBERANT was reluctant to maintain its position amongst other horses tonight. A veterinary inspection of GLUCK RACER and STOCK LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY SWEYNESSE, ASTROLOGER and YO BEAUTY were sent for sampling.
