As the start was effected, MARZOUQ momentarily turned its head to the right and consequently was slow to begin. A short distance after the start, MARZOUQ was steadied away from the heels of KING OF MONGOLIA when racing in restricted room between that horse and FLASH FAMOUS, both of which shifted ground.
Despite being vigorously ridden for some distance in the early stages, HIGH VOLATILITY failed to muster speed.
From wide barriers, GENERAL SHERMAN, GOOD OMEN and ACCLAIMED LIGHT were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1600 Metres, HIGH VOLATILITY was awkwardly placed between JADE FORTUNE and DYNAMIC EAGLE which shifted in marginally.
Approaching the 600 Metres, HIGH VOLATILITY was taken wider by SKY MELODY which shifted out.
Passing the 400 Metres, SKY MELODY and JADE FORTUNE raced tight.
Near the 300 Metres, JADE FORTUNE was eased away from the heels of CONSORT which shifted out to obtain clear running.
A veterinary inspection of PATRIOT HERO and MARZOUQ immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MARZOUQ, CONSORT and GLORIOUS FOREVER were sent for sampling.
<28/5/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>MARZOUQ, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. MARZOUQ was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Size this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MARZOUQ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
