FORTUNE PATROL shifted out at the start and bumped CHARITY GRAND which became unbalanced. COMPLACENCY and GOKO bumped on jumping. PRECIOUS SWEETIE began only fairly. BLACK TECH lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and then lost ground after being bumped by GLITTERING ARMOUR (C Y Ho) which shifted out. In this incident, C Y Ho dropped his whip. SPARING NO EFFORT stumbled at the start and lost ground. In this incident, SPARING NO EFFORT lost its left front plate. When being crossed by LUNAR ZEPHYR approaching the 800 Metres, HIGHLAND DANCER became unbalanced. Passing the 400 Metres, LIGHTNING TREASURE raced tight between LUNAR ZEPHYR and GOKO. Near the 50 Metres, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL shifted in abruptly, resulting in its rider, N Callan, having to stop riding and straighten. Also near the 50 Metres, HAPPY AND HEALTHY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of CHARITY GRAND which lay in during the latter stages of the race. When questioned, O Doleuze (BLACK TECH) stated that his mount resented the kickback throughout the race and did not travel comfortably at any stage. He said as BLACK TECH was detached from the field, he did not ride it out over the final 200 Metres. O Doleuze was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race at least hands and heels where appropriate circumstances exist. GOKO and TRIUMPHANT JEWEL were sent for sampling.
