As the start was effected, COOL BROTHERS lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly. KING BOUNTIFUL and FULL GLORY were slow to begin. From a wide barrier, HIT A HOME RUN was steadied soon after jumping and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. FORTUNE GIGGLES raced wide and without cover from the 1100 Metres and in the Straight gave ground. Approaching the first turn near the 900 Metres, INDUSTRIALIST WAY had to be steadied when awkwardly placed near the heels of AMRITSARIA (K C Leung) which shifted in when not properly clear. K C Leung was reprimanded and reminded of his responsibility to provide sufficient clearance when shifting ground. Upon straightening, ASHKIYR attempted to improve between GORGEOUS AGAIN and KING WINSA where there was insufficient room and as a consequence made contact with the hindquarters of KING WINSA. This resulted in KING WINSA becoming unbalanced and laying in, resulting in ASHKIYR being taken in onto the tiring FORTUNE GIGGLES which was checked due also to PREMIUM CHAMPION improving to the outside of the heels of UNIQUE HAPPIEST. In all the circumstances, the Stewards were satisfied that no rider exhibited any carelessness in this incident, therefore no further action was taken. FULL GLORY had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. KING WINSA, which was inclined to lay in under pressure in the Straight, was inconvenienced over the concluding stages when GORGEOUS AGAIN shifted out under pressure. When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon stated that FANCY MUSIC was off the bit for the majority of the race and then failed to respond despite being hard ridden from prior to the Home Turn. He stated that, in his view, the horse did not appear to stretch out comfortably on today’s surface and would be better suited on a firmer track. A veterinary inspection of FANCY MUSIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of HIT A HOME RUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. GORGEOUS AGAIN and KING WINSA were sent for sampling.
