After the running of Race 6, the Stewards acceded to a request from C K Tong that he be relieved of his engagement in this race on SNITZEL KID in order to attend to a member of his immediate family. As such, permission was given for W M Lai to be substituted as the rider of SNITZEL KID. PEPPERMINT was slow to begin. SUN PINS was slow to begin and then lost further ground when bumped by HARD BALL GET which shifted in. OWNERS ' PRIDE shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of REAL SUPREME which became unbalanced. Near the 1100 Metres, SNITZEL KID commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being steadied to allow I 'M IN CHARGE to cross. Passing the 1100 Metres, OWNERS ' PRIDE proved difficult to settle. D Whyte (FANTASTIC KAKA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SNITZEL KID, resulting in that horse being taken across the rightful running of HARD BALL GET which as a result was checked and shifted out, causing SUPREME FALCON and REAL SUPREME to be severely hampered. OWNERS ' PRIDE, which was following SUPREME FALCON, was hampered in consequence and NICE FOLKS was inconvenienced. After this, both SUPREME FALCON and REAL SUPREME travelled wide and without cover. D Whyte was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Friday, 6 June 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 28 May 2014. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Whyte 's good race riding record during the current racing season. Near the 850 Metres, FANTASTIC KAKA was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HARD BALL GET. Near the 750 Metres, HARD BALL GET was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC KAKA. A veterinary inspection of OWNERS ' PRIDE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. FANTASTIC KAKA, WONDERFUL MOMENTS and SUN PINS were sent for sampling.
