TALLEY CLOSE began only fairly. Approaching the 350 Metres, TALLEY CLOSE was checked away from the heels of LEADING CITY when unable to improve to the outside of that horse and inside RICH TAPESTRY. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, TALLEY CLOSE (R Fourie) raced in restricted room between LEADING CITY and DESTINED FOR GLORY (Z Purton) when attempting to obtain clear running between those horses. Then near the 150 Metres, TALLEY CLOSE was checked away from the heels of DESTINED FOR GLORY after being disappointed for running between that horse and LEADING CITY. After the race, R Fourie reported that his mount hung in under pressure in the Straight which contributed to the horse’s reluctance to improve into running between LEADING CITY and DESTINED FOR GLORY. Also after the race, Z Purton reported that his mount became badly unbalanced behind when TALLEY CLOSE was checked away from the heels of that horse. Following the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on DESTINED FOR GLORY at the request of Trainer J Moore. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DESTINED FOR GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME WIN immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of REAL SUPREME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GURUS DREAM and RICH TAPESTRY were sent for sampling.
