As the start was effected, HEARTS KEEPER lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly. SEA DRAGON was crowded for room at the start between WINNAM and WINNIE’S HORSE which shifted out. DRAGON GLORY began awkwardly and lost ground. CHOICE TREASURE was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, DYNAMIC VOYAGE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. WINNIE’S HORSE was unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 200 Metres was steadied when disappointed for running between AFFLUENCE OF RAIN and THE PRINCE which shifted out slightly. WINNIE’S HORSE was then held up for clear running before being shifted to the inside of THE PRINCE passing the 100 Metres. Near the 150 Metres, DRAGON GLORY was checked when attempting to obtain a run between FLYING IN and SLEDGE HAMMER which shifted in when giving ground. In this incident, FLYING IN, which was racing to the inside of DRAGON GLORY, was crowded for room inside that horse. Throughout the race, HEARTS KEEPER travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SEA DRAGON had lost its left front plate and that SLEDGE HAMMER had lost its right front plate. SEA DRAGON and THE PRINCE were sent for sampling.
