RADIOMARELLI lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin. LEVEL PLAYER blundered shortly after the start and then was steadied away from the heels of CRAIG’S PRIDE. In the early stages, THE UNTOUCHABLELAD was left racing very wide and after the 1400 Metres was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead. Approaching the 1200 Metres, TRAVEL BRAND commenced to over-race and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CRAIG’S PRIDE. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, TRAVEL BRAND shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of RADIOMARELLI which became unbalanced. At the same point, LEVEL PLAYER shifted in marginally and bumped LIBERTY VALANCE which became unbalanced. Near the 700 Metres, LIBERTY VALANCE got its head up and shifted out when being checked away from the heels of SUMMER DASH. When LIBERTY VALANCE shifted out, LEVEL PLAYER was taken out across the heels of VIVA FREEDOM which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RADIOMARELLI and shifted out. Rounding the Home Turn, VIVA FREEDOM and TRAVEL BRAND raced tight as TRAVEL BRAND shifted out to obtain clear running. A short distance after this, VIVA FREEDOM broke down and was retired from the race. When VIVA FREEDOM broke down, LIBERTY VALANCE was shifted out away from behind that horse. For the major part of the race, RADIOMARELLI travelled wide and without cover. CRAIG’S PRIDE, HOLY MAC and RADIOMARELLI were sent for sampling.
