SEA DIAMOND and MI SAVVY bumped at the start as did UWILLBEGLORIOUS and KING’S PACT. Passing the 1000 Metres, KING’S PACT got its head up when awkwardly place close to the heels of MEDALLIST. Approaching the 900 Metres, after initially racing in front of UWILLBEGLORIOUS, ALL FRIENDS shifted out slightly when racing close to the heels of MERIDIAN TREASURE. A short distance later, UWILLBEGLORIOUS, which was racing keenly, was checked after improving inside the heels of ALL FRIENDS (H W Lai) which shifted back in. H W Lai was advised to ensure that he exercises due care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 400 Metres, AFFLUENCE OF RAIN raced in restricted room between ALL FRIENDS and MERIDIAN TREASURE. Near the 300 Metres, KING’S PACT and UWILLBEGLORIOUS bumped. Then passing the 200 Metres, KING’S PACT was crowded for room between UWILLBEGLORIOUS and MEDALLIST which got its head on the side and shifted out marginally. In this incident, UWILLBEGLORIOUS became unbalanced after being bumped by KING’S PACT. SEA DIAMOND and GIGGLES FOREVER were unable to obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres. Throughout the race, MERIDIAN TREASURE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MI SAVVY, O Doleuze stated that his mount, which was attempting 1400 Metres for the first occasion in Hong Kong today, travelled well until rounding the Home Turn at which time the horse came under pressure. He said when placed under pressure MI SAVVY did not show the same turn of foot that it had in its previous races and over the final 200 Metres weakened out of the race. He did say that, in his opinion, the distance of today’s race was not the cause of MI SAVVY’s disappointing performance rather that the horse did not seem to appreciate the loose nature of today’s track. A veterinary inspection of MI SAVVY after the race did not show any significant findings. SEA DIAMOND and FOREVER ELATION were sent for sampling.
