NOVEL WINNING and FLORA DANICA bumped at the start. Shortly after this, NOVEL WINNING shifted in, resulting in SLEEP WELL being bumped when crowded for room outside FLYING CHAPARRAL. Passing the 1000 Metres, FLYING IN momentarily raced in restricted room inside NOVEL WINNING. SLEEP WELL had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Approaching the 200 Metres, NOBLE DELUXE and NOVEL WINNING raced tight. Passing the 200 Metres, NOVEL WINNING was checked when crowded for room between NOBLE DELUXE and HOLIDAY SUN (Apprentice C Y Ho) which shifted in abruptly. As the Stewards were satisfied that HOLIDAY SUN’s movement had been an abrupt one and that Apprentice Ho had taken sufficient measures to prevent his mount shifting further ground after having made the initial movement, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise him to ensure that, wherever possible, he does his best to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. HO HO LIFE, which was following NOVEL WINNING, was steadied in consequence. After this, HO HO LIFE had difficulty obtaining clear running after the 100 Metres. HOLIDAY SUN and GREAT RENOWN were sent for sampling.
