OLE OLE was steadied away from the heels of JUST FANTASTIC at the start. HANDSOME ZULU began awkwardly. From wide barriers, IMPERIAL ROME and ELITE OF CHIU TON were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 100 Metres, ADORATION was shifted in away from the heels of BEST FIT. Throughout the race, both MIGHTY SUN and MILITARY MOVE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, D Whyte stated that as FLASHING AURA was stepping up in distance, he was asked to ride the horse quietly from barrier 10 to ensure that it was able to see out the distance of today’s race. He said it was explained to him that FLASHING AURA had been ridden in a similar manner in a barrier trial conducted in the lead up to today’s race. He said when ridden quietly, FLASHING AURA finished off the race strongly, however, the horse did want to lay in under pressure in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of HANDSOME ZULU and OLE OLE after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HELENE SPIRIT had sustained a cut to the left hind coronet. MILITARY MOVE and HELENE SPIRIT were sent for sampling. <5/12/2011 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that BEST FIT was lame in the left front leg on the day after racing. Before being allowed to race again, BEST FIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
