AMAZING SUPERNOVA was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left front fetlock). Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING SUPERNOVA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Just prior to the gates opening, NEW GLORY became fractious and as the start was effected was slow to begin. From a wide outside barrier, PERFECT TEN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1300 Metres, SMART GUY was steadied away from the heels of OPEN SESAME. For some distance after the 1100 Metres, SMART GUY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANZULU. Approaching the 800 Metres, SUPREME FLIGHT commenced to travel keenly and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL FRIENDS, resulting in CAPITAL K and HORSESHOE FORTUNE being taken wider. After this, SUPREME FLIGHT and CAPITAL K travelled wide and without cover. At the entrance to the Straight, OPEN SESAME was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL FRIENDS. G Cheyne (BLESSING) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of DANZULU, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. G Cheyne was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 15 December 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 7 December 2011. Passing the 200 Metres, T Clark (BOSAMBO) dropped his left rein. For some distance approaching and passing the 100 Metres, NEW GLORY raced tight inside ELEGANCE KLAMMER. Throughout the race, HORSESHOE FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of DANZULU after the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was not able to be scoped. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CAPITAL K at the request of Trainer P O’Sullivan. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. NEW GLORY, OPEN SESAME and SUPREME FLIGHT were sent for sampling.
