MOBILE STAR began very awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of GOOD THINKER which itself shifted in at the start. From wide barriers, BIG WINNER AGAIN and TELECOM TOP STAR were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early and middle stages, DELISH raced keenly. After the 1200 Metres, MOBILE STAR was hampered when crowded for room between GOOD THINKER and SURE FORWARD which shifted in momentarily. After the 1100 Metres, HAPPY SCORE was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 50 Metres, DELISH was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY SCORE (Apprentice M L Yeung) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Yeung was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Over the concluding stages, SURE FORWARD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BULLISH POWER which got its head on the side and shifted out. Because of this, SURE FORWARD was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. A veterinary inspection of WATCH FIRST after the race did not show any significant findings. Following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that MASTER ELITE had sustained a small wound to the left front pastern. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on BIG WINNER AGAIN at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, BIG WINNER AGAIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DELISH, KINGSTON SPARTACUS and HAPPY SCORE were sent for sampling.
