Soon after the start, INDUSTRIAL LEGEND was taken back from the outside barrier. LUFENG FORTUNE hung in and raced ungenerously approaching the first turn. At the 1400 Metres, LEGEND LOVERS, which had been ridden aggressively to make ground, was restrained from the heels of UNITED when that horse was steadied and shifted in to obtain cover. As the Stewards were of the view that LEGEND LOVERS had not established running to the inside of the heels of UNITED prior to that horse shifting, no further action was taken. A short distance later, BINGO BINGO got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of UNITED (D Beadman) which shifted in when not fully clear. D Beadman was advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance in similar circumstances in future. HEADSIWIN also got its head up and raced ungenerously when being steadied away from the heels of UNITED at the 1250 Metres. Passing the 500 Metres, HEADSIWIN shifted out abruptly off the heels of TRAVEL PRINCE and as a result made contact with the hindquarters of LEGEND LOVERS. Soon after straightening, TRAVEL PRINCE shifted out abruptly away from the heels of the tiring LUFENG FORTUNE. Over the concluding stages, INDUSTRIAL LEGEND was not able to be fully tested when awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMITYSHIP. TOM’S EIGHTH raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Apprentice K C Leung reported that TRAVEL PRINCE raced greenly throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of LUFENG FORTUNE after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils. HOT SHOT, AMITYSHIP and UNITED were sent for sampling.
