SUPREME COMMANDER, which began awkwardly, was taken across behind runners soon after the start. At the 1300 Metres, GREAT UNITY was steadied away from the heels of SONOFTHEWEST (G Cheyne) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. GREAT UNITY continued to race awkwardly on the heels of SONOFTHEWEST for some distance after this incident. G Cheyne was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance when shifting ground in future. Rounding the Home Turn, ACCELERATOR was awkward on the heels of LANCELOT. After being disappointed for a run between ACCELERATOR and LANCELOT near the 350 Metres, LIVERBIRD then continued to be held up behind those runners for some distance. Approaching the 300 Metres, SUPREME COMMANDER shifted out around the heels of ACCELERATOR in an endeavour to obtain clear running, resulting in NOBLE TWINS being placed in restricted room between SUPREME COMMANDER and GREAT SHOW. SUPREME COMMANDER and NOBLE TWINS were then both held up for clear running until passing the 200 Metres. LANCELOT raced wide and without cover throughout the event. The performance of HEAVENLY POWERS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HEAVENLY POWERS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GREAT UNITY after the race revealed that the horse had sustained a wound to its left hind. PRIVATE ROAD and WAIT FOR ME were sent for sampling.
