GLORY was withdrawn on 21.5.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left fore tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KINGSTON MARBLE (W M Lai). Before being allowed to race again, GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. POLYMER BLOOM and SICHUAN SUCCESS were slow to begin. STALLION SUPREME, which began awkwardly, was crowded for room shortly after the start between VALUE CHOICE and GRAND GENERAL which shifted out after being bumped by FERRABOSCO. Near the 1150 Metres, FERRABOSCO was taken out by FLASHING GUY and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of GRAND GENERAL which became unbalanced. For some distance passing the 1000 Metres, FLASHING GUY got its head up and proved difficult to settle and passing the 800 Metres again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of STALLION SUPREME. At the entrance to the Straight, FLASHING GUY was shifted out from behind runners to obtain clear running. Over the final 200 Metres, FLASHING GUY hung in under pressure and proved somewhat difficult to ride. When questioned, W C Marwing advised that he had been instructed to take VINSANTO back in the early stages as the horse had been disappointing, particularly at its most recent start, when it weakened after being ridden in a forward position. He said it had been hoped today that he would be able to obtain some cover on VINSANTO towards the rear of the field with a view to establishing whether the hose would be able to close off the race. He said he took hold of VINSANTO in the early stages, however, when racing back in the field, VINSANTO was not able to obtain cover due to horses maintaining their positions to its inside. When questioned regarding his riding out of KINGSTON MARBLE in the Straight, W M Lai stated that he used the whip in a backhanded fashion on the horse in the right hand until after the 100 Metres and felt that as the horse was giving of its best, he decided to put the whip away and ride the horse out hands and heels to the end of the race. W M Lai was advised that his riding of KINGSTON MARBLE in the Straight had come under notice and he should at all times ride his mounts in such a manner which leaves no room for query. A veterinary inspection of DANEWIN TIGER after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DANEWIN TIGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GRAND GENERAL after the race did not show any significant findings. SICHUAN SUCCESS and FLASHING GUY were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FORTUNE PUG had bled from both nostrils.
