NOSTALGIA began awkwardly. FLYING KEEPER was very slow to begin BAMBOO DANCE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. At the entrance to the Straight, BAMBOO DANCE was momentarily held up when disappointed for running between HORSESHOE FORTUNE and SMART GUY which shifted out. SMART GUY was then shifted in to relieve the tightening to BAMBOO DANCE and had some difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance after this. W C Marwing (ALP’S GLORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of YOUNG HERO, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. In considering all the circumstances, the Stewards decided to exercise their discretion provided to them by the Rules of Racing to defer Jockey Marwing’s suspension from riding in races to commence on the first racemeeting of the 2013/2014 racing season and thereafter for a period incorporating the first two racemeetings of the season (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, W C Marwing was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. FLYING KEEPER was badly held up for clear running until after passing the 250 Metres. Over the concluding stages, FLYING KEEPER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of YOUNG HERO which shifted in slightly under pressure. Throughout the race, TRIUMPHANT WAY travelled wide and without cover. NAMJONG TURBO, JACK’S GEM and SMART GUY were sent for sampling.
