LOVELY PANDA was withdrawn on 5.7.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter STEP FASTER. Before being allowed to race again, LOVELY PANDA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. JUN JU proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, JUN JU will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. RED DRAGONFLY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SURROUNDED clipped the heels of KEEN TACTICS and blundered when that horse shifted out slightly, resulting in SURROUNDED losing ground. Near the 1200 Metres, STREET CAT was crowded for room inside VICTORY IDE SAY which was taken in by SILVER DRAGON (C Y Ho). C Y HO was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. After being crossed by STAR OF BOND near the 1000 Metres, GREAT PEGASUS proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of STAR OF BOND. Then making the turn near the 850 Metres, GREAT PEGASUS, which was continuing to prove very difficult to settle, shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GAIN MORE. YOUNG WARRIOR, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. KHARU got its head on the side and lay out rounding the Home Turn. Also rounding the Home Turn, JUN JU and VICTORY IDE SAY raced tight as JUN JU shifted out to obtain clear running. Passing the 350 Metres, SURROUNDED was shifted out away from the heels of KHARU which was giving ground. Passing the 200 Metres, YOUNG WARRIOR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GAIN MORE. Then after the 200 Metres, YOUNG WARRIOR was steadied when crowded for room between STAR OF BOND which got it head on the side and shifted out slightly and GAIN MORE which shifted in slightly under pressure. This resulted in YOUNG WARRIOR being disappointed for running between STAR OF BOND and GAIN MORE. Near the 50 Metres, GREAT PEGASUS became unbalanced. Throughout the race, KHARU travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The Stewards brought to the attention of Trainer K L Man the extravagant right front leg action of KEEN TACTICS, particularly in the latter part of the race. Mr Man was advised that the Stewards will monitor KEEN TACTICS’ action in its future starts. A veterinary inspection of YOUNG WARRIOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. KEEN TACTICS, SILVER DRAGON and SURROUNDED were sent for sampling.
