Whilst in the saddling stalls, CALLING WITH LOVE had its right front plate adjusted. TODOS CON SUERTE was slow to begin. I SMELL MONEY shifted out at the start and bumped GOOD TREASURE. From wide barriers, both PERCY JACKSON and SKIP COURT were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Making the turn near the 850 Metres, SKIP COURT shifted ground when proving difficult to settle. After being bumped by TODOS CON SUERTE, KING’S PACT got its head on the side and shifted out and in doing so bumped GOOD TREASURE passing the 850 Metres. Approaching the 200 Metres, KING’S PACT was hampered by I SMELL MONEY which shifted out. Throughout the race, BACKBENCH BLUES and KING’S FOLKS travelled wide and without cover. The performance of BACKBENCH BLUES, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BACKBENCH BLUES will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PRINCIPAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CALLING WITH LOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. PLEASURE GAINS and GOOD TREASURE were sent for sampling. <8/7/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>CALLING WITH LOVE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. CALLING WITH LOVE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C Fownes this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CALLING WITH LOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
