FORTUNE BRAVO proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE BRAVO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SPEEDYGONZALEZ was slow to begin. CHEERS JOY began awkwardly and then was crowded for room at the start between ALWAYS SOMETHING and NOBLE DE BEST which shifted out. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHEERS JOY became badly unbalanced when checked away from the heels of SPURS ON which was steadied when racing in restricted room between FORTUNE BRAVO and ZACHARY which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. SUPERNINSKY, which was following CHEERS JOY, was checked in consequence. Near the 1400 Metres, ZACHARY became unbalanced when having to be steadied away from the heels of INTELLECTUALSTRIDE (Z Purton) which shifted in when not properly clear. Z Purton was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Near the 1200 Metres, SPEEDYGONZALEZ commenced to race fiercely and was severely checked away from the heels of MASTER GUNNER which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE BRAVO. NOBLE DE BEST, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Passing the 1200 Metres, CHEERS JOY got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of SPURS ON. Passing the 1000 Metres, SPEEDYGONZALEZ, which was continuing to prove difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of MASTER GUNNER which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE BRAVO. Near the 850 Metres and again passing the 600 Metres, CHEERS JOY shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPURS ON. Near the 300 Metres, FORTUNE BRAVO was shifted in away from the heels of SUPER PISTACHIO. Approaching the 200 Metres, SPEEDYGONZALEZ (T Angland) was steadied away from the heels of MASTER GUNNER which was taken in by FORTUNE BRAVO (W M Lai). W M Lai was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. T Angland stated that the horse’s performance could be attributed to the fact that it proved very difficult to settle throughout the race after being slow to begin. He said whilst SPEEDYGONZALEZ was not going to be amongst the placegetters at the finish of the race, he felt that the horse was commencing to close off satisfactorily given the circumstances of the race until crowded for room approaching the 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDYGONZALEZ immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Passing the 200 Metres, SPURS ON shifted in and bumped ZACHARY. After this, SPURS ON raced in restricted room between ZACHARY and SUPERNINSKY. Over the concluding stages, MASTER GUNNER raced in restricted room inside FORTUNE BRAVO. Because of this, MASTER GUNNER was not able to be properly ridden out all the way to the finishing line. In the Straight, CHEERS JOY hung in and proved difficult to ride. After the race, B Prebble (ZACHARY) reported that his mount was inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages, but nonetheless was disappointing in the manner in which it came off the bridle after the 800 Metres. A veterinary inspection of ZACHARY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of ALWAYS SOMETHING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped. SPEEDYGONZALEZ, NINTH GALAXY and INTELLECTUALSTRIDE were sent for sampling. <11/4/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>After the race, ALWAYS SOMETHING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. ALWAYS SOMETHING was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer R Gibson this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ALWAYS SOMETHING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
