DOWN THE WICKET began awkwardly and got its head up. EASY bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. EYE WITNESS was slow to begin. HOLI RAVIOLI was a little slow to begin. Shortly after the start, YUE LU TREASURE was bumped by HOLI RAVIOLI which shifted out after being bumped by GREAT LAND’S STAR. Near the 1000 Metres, YUE LU TREASURE was steadied when awkwardly placed between EASY which shifted in and HOLI RAVIOLI which shifted out slightly. Near the 600 Metres and again on straightening, HOLI RAVIOLI and EASY bumped. Near the 100 Metres, HOLI RAVIOLI was steadied to avoid the heels of MASTER POWER (D Beadman) which shifted out when not clear. D Beadman was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. After the 50 Metres UPSIDE OF ANGER, which was closing the race off strongly, was shifted in away from the heels of BLUE GENES. In the Straight, DEFERENTIAL hung in. DOWN THE WICKET was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DOWN THE WICKET after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on EASY at the request of Trainer A S Cruz. The Veterinary Officer said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, EASY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HOLI RAVIOLI, MASTER POWER and DOUBLE LUCK were sent for sampling.
