MAGIC SWEEP was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left front foot). Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC SWEEP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FANTUZZI and VICTORY CONQUEROR were slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, SOLAR POWER was awkwardly placed between LIFELINE RAPIDE and FANTUZZI which when proving difficult to settle shifted in. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, SOLAR POWER was checked when crowded for room between LIFELINE RAPIDE and FANTUZZI which while continuing to prove difficult to settle got its head up and shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of VICTORY CONQUEROR. In the circumstances, no action was taken. On straightening, WHIPLASH was steadied away from the heels of MERIDIAN PRIDE (G Mossé) which shifted out when not clear. G Mossé was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. After the race, Apprentice K T Yeung (LIFELINE RAPIDE) and Apprentice K L Chui (SUPER GENKI), both of which performed poorly, reported their mounts did not handle today’s track conditions. C K Tong (WHIPLASH), which performed poorly, explained whilst the horse has won on yielding tracks, he did not believe it handled today’s soft track conditions. He said in the early stages despite being ridden along WHIPLASH did not show its usual speed and got further back than intended. He added at no stage of the race did WHIPLASH travel comfortably. WHIPLASH, CHEEKY LAD and SUPER GENKI were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WHIPLASH and CHEEKY LAD after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, SUPER GENKI was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. MASTER CRISTO and VICTORY CONQUEROR were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported FINGERS CROSSED had lost its right front plate. Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 30 June 2008) SUPER GENKI, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. SUPER GENKI was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER GENKI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
