FAVOURITE SUPREME, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 14.11.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, FAVOURITE SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When leaving the Parade Ring, SUPER BABY became fractious, reared and dislodged W C Marwing. As W C Marwing sustained an injury to his left ankle, he was not able to fulfil this riding engagement. K L Chui was substituted as the rider of SUPER BABY. AMPLE GAINS was slow to begin. MASCOT FORTUNE, which was fractious in its stall, began awkwardly. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, DON FELIPE was steadied away from the heels of GOUF which was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of FANTASTIC CHOICE. Prior to straightening, GOUF was carried wider by AMPLE GAINS and was then steadied away from the heels of DON FELIPE. At the 350 Metres, DON FELIPE, which was giving ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed between PRESTO and AMPLE GAINS. FANTASTIC CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. D Whyte (PRESTO) explained his mount did not begin as well as it has in its two most recent starts and because of the manner in which the race was run travelled slightly further back than he intended. He said prior to straightening he shifted PRESTO out into clear running and then rode his mount out vigorously hands and heels in the Straight. He said PRESTO continued to make ground, however, in his opinion the horse was finishing at its top. He did say at its most recent start PRESTO in his opinion did not show any apparent response when ridden with the whip. MASCOT FORTUNE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FANTASTIC CHOICE and MASCOT FORTUNE after the race did not show any significant findings. REDRAGTOABULL and CLEMENT ELITE were sent for sampling.
