On jumping, from a wide barrier, RACING SPIRIT was taken across behind runners. In the early stages, from a wide barrier, KINGSTON MARBLE was allowed to drift back in the field, then after entering the Back Straight was left racing wide and without cover. At the 900 Metres, RICH DRAGON was bumped by RACING SPIRIT. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, TREASURE RAIDERS was bumped by REAL SURPRISE which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MARVELLOUS. Making the Home Turn, GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY, which was held up and unable to improve, was steadied away from the heels of RICH DRAGON. Approaching the 200 Metres, MASTER OF SHAVERS was steadied away from the heels of FUN and shifted in to obtain clear running. After the 200 Metres, H W Lai (FUN) dropped his whip. In the Straight, FUN hung out. RICH DRAGON, KINGSTON MARBLE and MY PRIDE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, RICH DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse had a substantial amount of mucopus in its trachea and an intermittent displacement of the soft palate. A veterinary inspection of KINGSTON MARBLE and MY PRIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. REAL SURPRISE, TREASURE RAIDERS and FUN were sent for sampling.
