On arrival at the Start, C Y Ho expressed concern regarding the action of YELLOWFIN. YELLOWFIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was lame in its left front leg and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, YELLOWFIN was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, YELLOWFIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY BEAR was slow to begin and then was crowded between TOGEPI and BLISSFUL LIFE, both of which shifted ground. WINWIN THIRTYTHREE jumped only fairly, shifted out and bumped IMPERIAL MAGEE. In the middle stages, IMPERIAL MAGEE raced keenly and near the 800 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from ROMAN TURBO. Near the 600 Metres, COMMANDING MISSILE and IMPERIAL MAGEE bumped as IMPERIAL MAGEE shifted to the outside of TOGEPI to start a forward move. FIREBALL raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. The performance of HAPPY BEAR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY BEAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY BEAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, H Bowman (TOGEPI) could offer no explanation for the performance of his mount. A veterinary inspection of TOGEPI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, COMMANDING MISSILE was found to have sustained a minor abrasion to its right hock. GOLDEN BULL, WIDE BLUE YONDER and ROMAN TURBO were sent for sampling.
