WINNER METHOD jumped awkwardly and then shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by DINKUM which shifted in. On jumping, HAPPY DAY was hampered when crowded between ETERNAL BLOOM and SOLID IMPACT which shifted in. Shortly after the start, CALIFORNIA CIBLE blundered and then was bumped by UNPRESUMING which shifted in. TURIN MASCOT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages and near the 1200 Metres made contact with the running rail. From a wide barrier, FIND MY LOVE was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start, over-raced in the early stages and for some distance near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from LAUGH TALE. Again near the 800 Metres, FIND MY LOVE was steadied to avoid LAUGH TALE. G LINER raced keenly in the early stages and got its head up when being shifted in to obtain cover. UNPRESUMING raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 900 Metres ran out when being steadied away from CALIFORNIA CIBLE. UNPRESUMING then raced wide and without cover thereafter. Between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres, SOLID IMPACT was held up for clear running behind ARIEL and when being shifted out near the 350 Metres brushed CALIFORNIA CIBLE. After the 150 Metres, UNPRESUMING was steadied to avoid the heels of TAJ DRAGON (C Y Ho) which shifted in when not quite clear. C Y Ho was reprimanded. After the race, H Bentley (LAUGH TALE) reported that his mount raced keenly in the early stages and making the first turn near the 900 Metres when racing tight between HAPPY DAY and TAJ DRAGON, was inclined to shift out across the heels of TAJ DRAGON and was reluctant to hold its position. Also after the race, L Hewitson (DINKUM) and C L Chau (ETERNAL BLOOM) reported that their respective mounts raced too keenly in the early stages and as a consequence were left without a finishing effort. A veterinary inspection of DINKUM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Following the race, LAUGH TALE was noted to have bled from both nostrils. TAJ DRAGON and SOLID IMPACT were sent for sampling.
