SPARKY STAR was slow to begin. NICHOLSON RETURNS was crowded for room on jumping between BEAUTY CHAMP and VUKAN which shifted out. After this, despite being ridden along, NICHOLSON RETURNS failed to muster speed. YOUNG VICTORY and SUPER HIGHWAY bumped on jumping, resulting in SUPER HIGHWAY becoming unbalanced, shifting out and bumping STAR OF YUEN LONG. GOOD NEWS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ALL IS GOOD. From the outside barrier, CHING was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. MOONLIGHT VISTA and SO YOU TRUST were also steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover. Near the 1150 Metres, SUPER HIGHWAY was awkwardly placed between STAR OF YUEN LONG and YOUNG VICTORY which shifted out. In this incident, STAR OF YUEN LONG became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by SUPER HIGHWAY. SUPER HIGHWAY got its head up approaching the 900 Metres when awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOUNG VICTORY. CHING, which was following SUPER HIGHWAY, was then awkwardly placed behind that horse approaching the 850 Metres. At the 900 Metres, MOONLIGHT VISTA and SO YOU TRUST raced tight. After the 850 Metres, GOOD NEWS was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 700 Metres, SUPER HIGHWAY commenced to over-race and got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of YOUNG VICTORY. Then after the 700 Metres, SUPER HIGHWAY shifted out away from the heels of YOUNG VICTORY and in doing so bumped STAR OF YUEN LONG which was taken wider and without cover. Approaching the 600 Metres, YOUNG VICTORY raced close to the heels of SINGAPORE SPIRIT after attempting to improve to the outside of that horse and inside GOOD NEWS where there was insufficient room. SPARKY STAR was held up for clear running from after passing the 400 Metres until passing the 250 Metres. CHING was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching and passing the 300 Metres raced tight inside SUPER HIGHWAY as CHING attempted to improve between that horse and GOOD NEWS. CHING continued to be badly held up for clear running until passing the 200 Metres at which time the horse was shifted to the outside of SUPER HIGHWAY to obtain clear running. YOUNG VICTORY had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres. Passing the 150 Metres, GOOD NEWS raced tight between YOUNG VICTORY and SUPER HIGHWAY, both of which shifted ground. SPARKY STAR, which was following GOOD NEWS, was shifted to the inside of that horse to continue improving. A veterinary inspection of ALL IS GOOD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER HIGHWAY, YOUNG VICTORY and CHING were sent for sampling.
