AMAZING LUCK began awkwardly. DAILY CHARM began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider, C Y Ho, becoming unbalanced and DAILY CHARM losing ground. In this incident, C Y Ho lost the use of his left stirrup iron which he was able to regather approaching the 1700 Metres. After this, DAILY CHARM was ridden along for some distance to improve its position. From the outside barriers, JOLLY FOREVER, DIAMOND STAR, VIVA POPCORN and FIGURES TWO were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. SMILING FACE was also steadied shortly after the start and shifted across behind runners. Near the 1750 Metres, AMAZING LUCK got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of RIGHTEOUS WIN. After the 1400 Metres, JIMMU was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 500 Metres, FIGURES TWO was shifted in away from the heels of SMILING FACE which shifted out. FIGURES TWO was then unable to obtain clear running from passing the 400 Metres until after the 300 Metres. K C Leung (AMAZING LUCK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of RIGHTEOUS WIN, resulting in that horse being hampered and taken in across the rightful running of CIGAR BUDDIES which was unnecessarily hampered and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. K C Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 20 October 2021 and to expire on Monday, 25 October 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Leung’s good race riding record. Rounding the Home Turn, RIGHTEOUS WIN raced close to the heels of MISTER MONTE. SMILING FACE had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Over the concluding stages, DAILY CHARM shifted out under pressure. A veterinary inspection of FIGURES TWO and RIGHTEOUS WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FIGURES TWO, MISTER MONTE and DAILY CHARM were sent for sampling.
