Just prior to the start being effected, SAVVY KINGMAN turned its head to the left and consequently missed the start. SMART WONGCHOY, which was leaning on the inside of its barrier, began awkwardly. On jumping, BIG LUCK CHAMP was badly crowded for room between SO AWESOME and SPEED FAY FAY, both of which shifted ground. In this incident, SO AWESOME bumped heavily with BIG LUCK CHAMP, became badly unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in APOLAR WARRIOR being hampered. SPEED FAY FAY lost its left front plate at the start. From wide barriers, LUCKY MISSILE and DREAM WARRIORS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the first turn at the 900 Metres, SUNDAY BETTING got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of SPRINT FORWARD (Apprentice C L Chau) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice Chau was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance when shifting ground. After the 900 Metres, SUNDAY BETTING raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SUNDAY BETTING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SUNDAY BETTING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUNDAY BETTING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being awkwardly placed behind COPARTNER ERA which shifted in approaching the 500 Metres, SO AWESOME was directed to the outside of that horse to continue improving on the Home Turn. APOLAR WARRIOR, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of SO AWESOME in consequence. M L Yeung, the rider of the 4th placed, SMART WONGCHOY, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out all the way to the finishing line. A veterinary inspection of SPRINT FORWARD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of COPARTNER ERA immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a small wound to the left hind pastern. FORTUNE MASTER and WINNING STEED were sent for sampling.
