Steward Report Predict Pace Map
VERY RICH MAN was withdrawn on 23.10.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (injury to right knee) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BACK IN BLACK. Before being allowed to race again, VERY RICH MAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NAVAS was crowded for room on jumping between BACK IN BLACK and GRACE HEART which was taken in by SO FAST. A short distance after this, NAVAS was checked between GRACE HEART and BACK IN BLACK which was taken out by HAPPY HAPPY STAR (C Y Ho) which shifted out when being ridden along. C Y Ho was reprimanded. From a wide barrier, HAIR TRIGGER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, IRON BOY raced tight inside STARLIGHT which got its head on the side and shifted in away from GOOD COMPANION (M Chadwick) which shifted in. A short distance later, IRON BOY was checked when crowded for room inside STARLIGHT which was in turn racing tight inside GOOD COMPANION which, after initially shifting in, was then racing tight inside the heels of MASTER VIKING. M Chadwick was advised that whilst there was not sufficient evidence for the Stewards to proceed with a charge of having breached the careless riding Rule, nonetheless, in the opinion of the Stewards, it was predominantly the shift inwards from GOOD COMPANION which had caused the crowding to IRON BOY, therefore he was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances. Near the 750 Metres, MASTER VIKING was bumped by SO FAST which shifted out. Passing the 250 Metres, NAVAS was steadied when disappointed for running inside IRON BOY. NAVAS was then shifted to the outside of IRON BOY passing the 200 Metres. BACK IN BLACK was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. Passing the 100 Metres, HAPPY HAPPY STAR, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of GOOD COMPANION which was taken out by MASTER VIKING. Close to the finishing line, NAVAS, which was finishing off the race strongly, was severely checked away from the heels of SO FAST (Apprentice H N Wong) which shifted in under pressure. As the Stewards were satisfied that NAVAS had not established running to the inside of SO FAST prior to that horse shifting ground, no further action was taken other than Apprentice Wong was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount rather than allowing it to shift ground under pressure. Throughout the race, HAPPY HAPPY STAR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of GOOD COMPANION and HAPPY HAPPY STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STARLIGHT and G-ONE LOVER were sent for sampling. <26/10/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SO FAST had sustained an injury to the right front and right hind hooves on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SO FAST will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
