When proceeding to the Start, SUPERNATURAL attempted to jump a rail, resulting in the horse sustaining a cut to the right knee. SUPERNATURAL was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, SUPERNATURAL was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, SUPERNATURAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PERFECT TIMING blundered badly at the start and lost ground. After this, from a wide barrier, PERFECT TIMING was shifted across behind runners together with WINNER ST PAUL’S and DYNAMIC VOYAGE. AMBITIOUS SPEEDY was crowded for room on jumping between HIT A HOME RUN and EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA which shifted out. Passing the 1300 Metres, LUCKY FRIENDS got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover. Rounding the Home Turn, WINNER ST PAUL’S was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTICLIFE which shifted out to obtain clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA was shifted out away from the heels of FURIOUS PEGASUS. Over the concluding stages, GOLDEN CANNON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMBITIOUS SPEEDY due to both horses shifting ground. Also over the concluding stages, EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA was held up for clear running behind TELECOM BOOM and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. After the race, G Mosse (EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA) stated that his saddle shifted to the side in the early stages. A veterinary inspection of WINNER ST PAUL’S immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HIT A HOME RUN, AMBITIOUS SPEEDY and FANTASTICLIFE were sent for sampling.
