ABLE FRIEND was withdrawn on 17.3.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). GIANT TREASURE was withdrawn on 18.3.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right fore suspensory). Before being allowed to race again, ABLE FRIEND and GIANT TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Near the 450 Metres, INVINCIBLE DRAGON raced tight between HELENE PARAGON and SUN JEWELLERY. Passing the 300 Metres, INVINCIBLE DRAGON was struck over the nose by the whip of Z Purton (SUN JEWELLERY). When questioned, T Berry (HELENE PARAGON) stated that he decided to make his run sooner than he otherwise would have prior to the 600 Metres as the race had been run at an average tempo and, with top weight, he did not want HELENE PARAGON to be outsprinted when the pace of the race quickened. He said even though he improved into the race at this time, HELENE PARAGON did not show the same turn of foot as other runners and was not able to sustain its run over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of HELENE PARAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. INVINCIBLE DRAGON, DASHING FELLOW and CONTENTMENT were sent for sampling.
