CONVINCIBLE lost its right hind plate shortly after the start. From wide barriers, THE SUPREME and AGREE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1200 Metres, SHINNING MOON got its head up and shifted in abruptly towards the heels of ALL MY GAIN when racing greenly. A Badel (CONVINCIBLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MR POTENTIAL, causing that horse to be inconvenienced and further permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of PIKACHU, resulting in that horse being hampered. When MR POTENTIAL and PIKACHU were hampered, BRILLIANT DREAM, which was following, was hampered in consequence and in turn shifted in, causing BEAUTY FLARE to become unbalanced and bump THE SUPREME, resulting in both those horses also being hampered. A Badel was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 22 February 2017 and to expire on Monday, 27 February 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, A Badel was fined $20,000. SICHUAN BOSS raced greenly in the early and middle stages and then making the turn near the 900 Metres got its head on the side and lay out. After this, SICHUAN BOSS continued to race greenly and hung out badly and in the Straight was eased down. The racing manners of SICHUAN BOSS were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SICHUAN BOSS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend. Near the 900 Metres, WINWIN RUBY was left racing wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. The performance of WINWIN RUBY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WINWIN RUBY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the early part of the Straight, SHINNING MOON got its head on the side and lay in and passing the 400 Metres was checked away from the heels of CONVINCIBLE which, when commencing to shift to the outside of ALL MY GAIN, was required to shift out further away from that horse’s heels as ALL MY GAIN shifted out after being bumped by VOLITATION. In this incident, CONVINCIBLE shifted out further and bumped MR POTENTIAL. As the Stewards were satisfied that there were a number of factors surrounding this incident, none of which was attributable to carelessness on the part of any rider, no further action was taken. Approaching and passing the 100 Metres, KINGSFIELD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHAMAL. Over the concluding stages, BEAUTY FLARE raced in restricted room between PIKACHU and CONVINCIBLE. A veterinary inspection of SICHUAN BOSS, WINWIN RUBY and ALL MY GAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. VOLITATION and MR POTENTIAL were sent for sampling.
