Steward Report Predict Pace Map
SUPER DUKE, which was kicked by another runner when parading behind the barriers, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race. HASTILY FEET and HIT A HOME RUN were slow to begin. SEVEN LUCK shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of WORKS OF ART which became unbalanced. Near the 1350 Metres, GENTRY was momentarily crowded for room between C P POWER and KING’S MAN which was then shifted out to relieve the tightening to GENTRY. Approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, DASHING DART travelled keenly and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER DUKE. After the 1100 Metres, KING’S MAN was left racing very wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Passing the 1000 Metres, WORKS OF ART was left racing wide and without cover. For the majority of the race, TRIUMPHANT LIGHT raced with its head on the side and lay out and then made the Home Turn awkwardly when continuing to lay out. Passing the 400 Metres, HASTILY FEET was shifted to the inside of BEST EFFORT after being disappointed for running between that horse which shifted out and SUPER DUKE. BEST EFFORT then had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 250 Metres at which time the horse was shifted out across the heels of WORKS OF ART to obtain clear running. When questioned, J Moreira (KING’S MAN) stated that, from the outside barrier, he was asked to obtain a midfield position with cover if possible. He said in accordance with his instructions he shifted KING’S MAN across behind runners in the early stages and passing the 1400 Metres had GENTRY racing to his inside. He said he was obliged to direct KING’S MAN out approaching the 1300 Metres to avoid interfering with GENTRY and after this because of the circumstances of the race he was unable to obtain cover. He said after the 1100 Metres LITTLE FANTASY shifted in to race outside the lead and this resulted in KING’S MAN being left racing four wide and without cover. He said making the turn at the 800 Metres KING’S MAN came off the bridle and appeared to lose interest in the race, as a result he had to niggle the horse along passing the 700 Metres in order to have it maintain its position. He added that he was taken wider still by C P POWER after the 600 Metres, however, even at this time KING’S MAN was already under pressure. He said KING’S MAN came under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and then, despite being ridden along, commenced to give ground. He said KING’S MAN was disappointing in today’s race in that it never travelled comfortably, nonetheless the fact that the horse was required to race so wide obviously had some bearing on the horse’s finishing position. A veterinary inspection of KING’S MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE FANTASY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GO BEAUTY GO and C P POWER were sent for sampling.
