YORKSHIRE DALES began awkwardly. PEOPLE'S KNIGHT began only fairly. From wide barriers, BABA MAMA and ENORMOUS HONOUR were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Near the 1250 Metres, YORKSHIRE DALES got its head up and became unbalanced. Passing the 300 Metres, SMART BOY, JOYFUL MOMENTS and CHEERFUL BOY raced tight. Passing the 200 Metres, CHEERFUL BOY was bumped by JOYFUL MOMENTS which was momentarily crowded for room outside SMART BOY. Over the final 200 Metres, BABA MAMA got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. After the race, N Rawiller (ENORMOUS HONOUR) stated that his mount was reluctant to stretch out during the race. A veterinary inspection of ENORMOUS HONOUR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, Apprentice H T Mo stated that he had been asked to position CHEERFUL BOY behind the leaders if possible from a wide barrier. He said in the early stages he was left racing wide and without cover and for this reason he allowed his mount to improve to race outside the leaders after the 800 Metres. He added however that he was unable to cross BEAUTY KINGDOM which resulted in CHEERFUL BOY being forced to race three wide and without cover throughout. After the race, J Moreira (PEOPLE'S KNIGHT) reported that although he was required to race in a three wide position, he was able to maintain cover throughout the race. He said PEOPLE'S KNIGHT travelled reasonably well in the early and middle stages, however, he was required to shift out into a four wide position around BALAY BALAY near the 600 Metres as that horse commenced to give ground. He added shortly after this PEOPLE'S KNIGHT came under heavy pressure and, despite being ridden out, was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of PEOPLE'S KNIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of PEOPLE'S KNIGHT was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PEOPLE'S KNIGHT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL MOMENTS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BABA MAMA and SMART BOY were sent for sampling.
